Curriculum Overview

At Grove Primary, we are committed to providing a full curriculum experience for every child so each can remember more and learn more.

We help them succeed by broadening their experiences and enabling them to reach their potential in every area of school life. Through a rich curriculum offer, we believe our children should have opportunities to develop and explore interests and talents alongside the acquisition of core literacy and numeracy skills.

The curriculum aims to nurture children into active, well-rounded citizens ready for modern Britain by promoting understanding of democracy, human rights, and social justice. It empowers them to be informed and compassionate members of society. The pupil leadership program enhances community connections, while British values and good manners are emphasized. Overall, the curriculum encourages all children to become active learners, leaders, and citizens.

Diversity is integrated into the curriculum through themes like No Outsiders, PSHE, and enrichment activities, allowing children to reflect on their lives while learning about inclusion and equity. Engagement with diverse texts and meaningful discussions fosters empathy, tolerance, and a sense of responsibility towards local, national, and global communities.

We teach children good manners, emotional self-regulation, positive relationships, and coping with challenges. Key focuses include communication skills, emotional literacy, healthy lifestyles, and positive mental and physical health attitudes. We foster resilience and adaptability to prepare children for success in a changing society.

Nurturing children's wellbeing and emotional health is fundamental to our curriculum. Skilled adults create safe, exciting learning environments while valuing each child's uniqueness and maintaining high standards. Strong relationships with parents, carers, and the community support children's development.

The curriculum aims to provide ambitious and relevant learning for all children, designed to be broad and balanced. It fosters social, personal, intellectual, emotional, physical, creative, and spiritual development. Children develop knowledge and key skills like critical thinking, evaluation, and problem-solving, while making connections to previous learning. This prepares them to apply their knowledge meaningfully and equips them for future educational stages.
