This week in Reception, we have been learning about South Korea and comparing it to places we already know, including Lowestoft and Antarctica. The children enjoyed finding out new facts about South Korea, such as the food people eat, how they travel and what their homes are like. We spent time talking about similarities and differences between the different places, and the children began to use simple sentences to share their ideas. We also continued our work on plants in the woods. We create Hapa Zome art pieces by printing leaves and flowers onto cloths.
In maths, we have been exploring the composition of 10. The children have been using practical resources such as counters, ten frames and number bond trays to find different ways to make 10. They practised saying and sometimes writing number sentences, such as 6 + 4 = 10, and began to use their knowledge to solve simple problems.
We also had a fantastic Sports Day this week! The children had lots of fun taking part in a range of activities and really enjoyed being part of a team and showing a bit of healthy competition. It was wonderful to see their smiles and enthusiasm throughout the event!
