This week, Poppy Class have moved on to create superhero routines during P.E; learnt how to ask for specific vegetables in Spanish; created African-inspired collagraph prints in Art and learnt how to use the clone feature to adapt digital images during Computing.

This week in Nursery we have read 'Cool Cars' and talked about the main features of a car e.g. steering wheel, seatbelt. We have enjoyed using the large blocks to build a car and have pretended to travel to different places. In Maths we have thought about the shape of the blocks we have used to build. In Phonics we learnt the phoneme /h/ and practised writing it. A brilliant week everyone. Have a lovely weekend. Miss Allen, Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Fuller

🌟ACTIVES🌟 What a week! Firstly we'd like to echo the messages of other teachers and share how proud we are of all of our Year 6's for completing their SATs this week. They have been real role models, showing how they can apply all their learning from their time at Grove to their SATs - true Active Learners! Can we keep the bacon rolls coming next week still? In our assembly today we celebrated these achievements alongside many others - well done everyone! The Junior Road Safety officers shared important information about next week's walk to school week which we're all excited for. Hallie also shared her poster on looking after local wildlife which she had completed at home - what an Active Citizen! We also dressed in clothes which most express who we are for Children's Mental Health Week. Corban came in wearing a jumper which expressed this message exactly - thank you for sharing this! Another busy week in Snowdrop class, we have started to write our persuasion holiday brochures to convince people to visit the Stone age, we have also explored superhero dancing within PE, performing a sequence to our peers, we have looked at the 'bog monster' within history and completed our Spanish unit of vegetables. It has been a lovely week although the weather has been crazy! Have a great weekend.

Rose 🌹 What a bunch of super stars we've got a Rose. We've really had a lovely week and topped it off with a superb day today - Miss Fayers and Miss Thacker are super happy! In Woodlands this week we reflected on our animal enclosures from last week and tried to make some improvements working as a team. In Maths we dived deeper into fractions and found fractions of amounts using resources to help us. In Literacy we started to write recounts on our trip to Thrigby Hall. In Art we practiced tying knots. In PSHE we reflected on what what it means to be kind and made a kindness promise to complete on the weekend. Well done everyone - 4 more days to go! ✨

Another fantastic week in Willow this week! We developed the triple jump in Athletics and measured our distances in order to try and improve our own personal best. In Computing, we used accurate measurements and hollowing 3D shapes to create a desk tidy in Tinkercad. In Art, we created a textile collage inspired by the skills we have learnt over the last few weeks and the work of Jean Davey Winter. The Year 6’s have been incredible this week during their SATs too. They have remained calm, tried their best and blown us away with their determination and motivation to succeed. A very proud week this week!

What a week in Elder! Firstly, we are super proud of how hard the Year 6’s have worked in their SATs testing this week. You have shown us what Active Learners really are! We are also proud of the Year 5s for showing maturity, flexibility and understanding throughout this week, accepting the changes to their timetable with ease. In Art this week, we completed our final pieces; collages inspired by out artist Jean Davey Winter focusing on construction and deconstruction techniques. In PE we mastered our shot-put technique in Athletics and engaged in a rally/tournament during Volleyball. In Geography, we learned about wind energy and talked about the importance of wind farms. In Science, we experimented with heart rate monitors and exercise to determine what happens to our bodies when we complete physical activity. Finally, in computing we designed our own 3D model houses. Hope you all have a restful weekend and we will see you next week for the final push before half term! Mrs Kippen

This week, Reception have been finishing their own stories. They have written about problems and solutions and even designed their own front covers. The children spent time editing and reviewing their work. They are all very proud of their stories and have enjoyed sharing them with others. In maths, we have been learning about sharing and making equal groups. The children have practised sharing objects fairly between two groups and talking about whether groups are equal or unequal. We also explored what happens when amounts cannot be shared equally and began to notice that some numbers can be shared while others cannot.

Grove Gardening Gang were very excited this week as the first of our crops were ready. The children took home a bouquet of herbs that they had grown including parsley, mint and lemon verbena and some yummy lettuce and rocket. We are very much looking forward to seeing what will be ready next.

Active Lifestyles ✨⚽ A huge congratulations to Reuben, Stanley and Oliver for their achievement over the weekend. They boys played a superb game and came away as the U8 NSYFL shield winners! Congratulations boys 🤩

Last week, Year 3 had a lovely day at Carlton Marshes. The children enjoyed taking part in a range of activities based on animals and their habitats, from dyke dipping to vertebrate hunting. The children were very well behaved and were exhausted after their long walk back to school.

This week in Nursery we have read 'Roaring Rockets' and discussed where a rocket may travel to. We have watched a rocket take off and counted down from ten to blast off! In Maths we have looked at patterns in art, talking about what we could see. On Wednesday we had a visit from the dentist who spoke to us about how to look after our teeth. We now know we have to clean our teeth twice a day and which foods are good for our teeth. Have a fantastic weekend Miss Allen, Mrs McCarthy and Mrs Fuller

🌟Speedwell🌟 What a jam-packed couple of weeks we have had! We have been exploring fractions in Maths and have published our newspaper reports in Literacy. In Woodlands we designed and made flood-proof shelters for animals using natural resources. We have some budding tennis stars in PE this half term and in Art we've been embellishing and weaving fabric and exploring the colour resist process. We had a lot of fun in R&WV today trying different dishes from a traditional Jewish Seder plate - we certainly had some mixed reviews about teh horseradish!😂 Have a wonderful weekend. Another busy week in Elder Class! In Literacy, we published our news feature articles on the new playground upgrades at Grove before moving on to our new unit where we immersed ourselves in explanation texts. In Geography, we learned about Solar energy and how this creates electricity before drawing some fantastic diagrams to showcase this. In PE this week, we developed our 3 step ‘Triple Jump’ Technique in Athletics and learned how to complete a successful ‘dig’ and ‘set’ in Volleyball. In Science we explored the circulatory systems of Mammals, Fish and Insects; learning how they transport oxygen, water and nutrients around their bodies before drawing diagrams to represent this. Finally, in Art we used ‘Batik’ and worked hard to plan our final piece. Super hardworking children in Elder class, well done! Mrs Kippen

This week in Rose we have continued our learning of fractions and we have published our amazing newspaper reports. In Art, we drew lines and painted onto fabric to practise the wax resist technique. In Geography, we located the natural wonders of the world onto a map identifying the continents and oceans. We learnt more about the Jewish celebration of Passover in RWV and in particular the Seder plate. We got the rackets out this week in PE and developed our skills of returning a ball. We combined Science and Woodlands, looking at animal habitats and then made our own animal enclosures. This half term is flying by! Thank you for the wonderful homework pieces that have been brought in so far! Miss Thacker, Miss Fayers and Miss Rough.

🏔️Active Lifestyles🏔️ Harper in honeysuckle walked up Pen Y Fan in Wales on bank holiday Monday . It’s the highest peak in South Wales- 886 metres high!! We were so impressed with this achievement

A short but busy week in Snowdrop class, the children had so much fun on their trip to the Marshes! We have enjoyed discussing what vegetables we do and do not like in Spanish, we have also enjoyed showing our superhero moves in PE and creating a sequence. We have also continued editing photos and looked at houses from the three periods we are learning about, have a lovely weekend!

🤩Pupil Leadership🤩 Mrs Kounnas has started to meet with our pupil leadership groups this week to discuss the positive difference they are making within our school community. The children spoke proudly about past and ongoing projects designed to inspire, motivate, and celebrate others. We are really looking forward to seeing our leadership groups continue this fantastic work throughout the Summer term.

✨Well done to this week’s Actives! ✨ It’s been a busy and exciting week here at Grove – especially for LKS2, who enjoyed a trip to Carlton Marshes. We also had a group of UKS2 children take part in a football tournament and come second place – a fantastic achievement. Well done to everyone involved! We also celebrated David Attenborough’s 100th birthday – what an incredible milestone! His lifelong dedication to learning about and educating others on the natural world is a real inspiration to us all at Grove. A special thank you to Ottilie, who shared some of her own research that she completed at home. ☀️Have a wonderful weekend everyone.☀️

Another super week in Rose Class! We have been learning all about fractions in Maths, finding halves and quarters of shapes and amounts. In Literacy, we have started to write our newspaper reports for the Pandamonium at Peek Zoo! In Art this week, we practiced weaving with our embellished fabric strips from last week. In PE we practised stopping, catching and patting the ball using our hands. In Computing we discussed types of information technology and logged into the laptops for the first time! The children are really enjoying the Geography this half term, today we learnt about some rivers around the world and plotted them on a world map which we constructed first!

This week in Nursery we have read 'Amazing Aeroplanes' and talked about our own experiences of flying and going on holiday. In Maths we have been singing songs to count forwards and backwards. This week we learnt the phoneme /u/ and practised writing it. In the provision we have used sponges to create pictures of the sky and drawn aeroplanes. We have enjoyed the sunshine in the garden, digging in the sand and hammering in the woodwork.
