Key Stage 1 Skittleball

ALT Key Stage 1 Skittleball

On Friday 17th June, 2 teams from KS1 represented Grove at the ALT Skittleball tournament held at Red Oak Primary.

Both teams showed great teamwork and amazing sportsmanship finishing a close second in each league.

Team member Lacey said ”I was very nervous to play in my first tournament, then I scored and wasn't nervous anymore!!”

Team member Beatrice said “I really enjoyed being part of the team.”

Staff member Miss Rogers said "It was lovely to see the children grow in confidence over the games, working together and encouraging each other."

UKS2 Panathlon Ten Pin Bowling

On Tuesday 8th March, 6 lucky UKS2 students represented the school at the ALT Panathlon Ten Pin Bowling tournament.

They were very excited prior the event and had such a good time whilst there. They all showed excellent manners and behaviour.

The children were thrilled to hear that they had won the event and got to take home a gold medal each!

Staff member Mrs Gill said “It was amazing to see how the children’s confidence and smiles grew during the course of the afternoon. To see them so proud of themselves was the biggest achievement of the day!”

Team member Kylah was the highest individual scorer at the tournament and got to take home a second gold medal! She said “I had a lot of fun and was so happy we won!”

Year 3 skittle ball

On the 2nd March, we entered our first sports competition of this half term as our year 3 skittle ball teams took part in the North Suffolk Sport & Health Partnership competition.

We took part in some fun games which were led by the amazing Pakefield High School leaders. We then participated in the skill challenge which saw us finish as both winners and runners up! Team 1 finished 2nd and were beaten by 1 extra catch by Team 2

We ended the afternoon with some matches against Red Oak and Pakefield which were focused on our communication, passing and moving skills.

Team 1 member Lottie said “My favourite part was getting a medal and knowing where we came.”

Team 2 members Dakota and Jasmine said “We really enjoyed playing together and getting a medal.”

Staff member Mr Fisher said “All the children had a great time and it was brilliant seeing them all try their best at a new sport”.

Key Stage 1 - Football Tournament

KS1 football

On the 25th March, 6 KS1 students got to enjoy the sunshine and play some football at Kirkley and Pakefield Football Club.

It was a brilliant event which was hosted by Mr Kerrison and the team from Ipswich Town Community Trust.

The team played brilliantly and had such a good time! We saw some brilliant saves, passes, tackles and goals from all of our children.

They won all 5 of their matches and came first securing a medal each!

Team member Chloe said “I enjoyed the challenge of playing against some good teams as I had to try hard.”

Staff member Mrs Fuller said “They played with super skills, great teamwork and were absolutely amazing!”

UKS2 Quicksticks

UKS2 quick sticks

7 of our UKS2 students participated in the ALT quick sticks tournament on the 28th January .

They all represented the school brilliantly with their hard work and quick sticks ability as well as their respect for the 4 other schools. They all went home with a bronze medal each after finishing 3rd!

Isabella also went home with a referees player of the tournament medal and she said “I had a lot of fun and was really happy to get a second medal!”

Staff member Mrs Kounnas said “It was great to see the children put their all into the matches. They kept trying their hardest until the very end!”

On Wednesday 6th October, our year 6 tag rugby team took part in the North Suffolk Sport & Health Partnership belong event.

The main focus was to develop the pupils respect and our team certainly done that! They participated brilliantly and had a great afternoon despite the weather!

Staff member Mrs Clarke said "I was very impressed with the team spirit and resilience shown by all of the Year 6 children from Grove, especially having to play in such wet conditions! Their respect and sense of fair play towards one another, and the competing schools was exemplary. Proud to be Grove!"

Team member Roman said "I enjoyed the games an amount of teamwork we done!"
