Although the weather was against us, we have all had a super time at Framlingham castle! The children got to walk around the curtain wall and the moat to explore and identify the main features of a castle, that we have been looking at during lesson time. Such as, the arrow slits, crenels and merlons, the portcullis, the drawbridge and more.
To support your child's grammar and spelling development at home Grove Primary has signed up to Active Learn this academic year. Each child has had an individual account created, and certain games and activities have been allocated to them to help build on their understanding in grammar or spelling. Most of the games are tablet friendly and work best in chrome rather than internet explorer. If you have any problems or queries please don't hesitate to see me.
The website is https://www.activelearnprimary.co.uk
The uername is your child's first initial and last name (e.g. zbuckler)
Their password is pass.
The school code is jcsp
This website will really help build on your child's spelling, comprehension and grammar - areas they will be assessed on later in the academic year. Please try and encourage your child to use this resource as often as they can. The games and activities on there will regularly be changed according to the needs of your child.
Today your child has had a lot of fun making shortbread with Cooks on the Move. Your child learnt all about what ingredients go into making shortbread and where those ingredients grow. They all loved getting their hands gooey! Some of the great adjectives used to describe the mixture were:
Sloppy - Bailey
Smooth - Grace
Lumpy - Imogen
and many more! Hopefully you all got to enjoy your child's biscuits!
This half term your child has been practicing the 'The Watercycle Song', which they performed on Friday 16th October to a live orchestra. They all had a lot of fun and they were very excited to listen to all the different instruments playing. They had a special treat when the orchestra played 'Winter' from Vivaldi's Four Seasons. A huge thank you! to all the parents who donated money in the water bottles for the OAEducation orchestra.
We have had great fun in literacy this week! We have been using the film 'The Clock Tower' to help us write a recount. You child has taken part in a lot of successful drama thinking about how the character feels. This has really sparked their imagination and they have really gotten into character and written some wonderful sentences, some of which I have written below.
Imogen: Upset, the world has stopped all because I left the clock tower. I will go back. Why do I have to spin the clock?
Phoebe: Amazed, the balloons are colourful like a rainbow.
Elinor: Bewildered, why does it always happen to me?
Megan: Happy, I hopped off the cog and went to the fragile, delicate window and saw bright, colourful balloons floating through the deep, blue sky.
Declan and Alex were really excited to share the video with their parents, so I have put the video on the webpage. I have included another video which the children enjoyed called Rock, Paper and Scissors - be warned this one is slightly scary!
