Houses at Grove Primary

ACADEMIC YEAR 2016 - 2017

REVIEW OF THE HOUSE SYSTEM - AUTUMN TERM 2016

Mme Godet is currently doing a full review of the House System with pupils and staff.

At the end of the 2015-2016 academic year, she carried preliminary interviews with one Year 4 (Elder) and one Year 5 class (Fern) to gage pupils' views.

You will find herewith some of the children's comments as well as a graph outlining the findings so far.  This information will be used to design a Pupils' Questionnaire to be used with KS1 and KS2.  This information will be shared at a staff meeting at the end of October before a full report is made available to parents at the beginning of Autumn 2.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2015-2016

The House System has now been in place at Grove for a year and on Friday 10th June 2016, pupils took to the Polling Station to elect their House Captains for next year.   It is planned that the newly-appointed recruits will be working alongside their predecessors until they officially take up their position in September.

The afternoon started with pupils being given a Poll Card which had been generated from the Formal Electoral Register before making their way to their respective Houses to listen to Year 5 Election Speeches.

Then, pupils from Reception to Year 6 gave their Poll Card to their House Captains who handed them their Voting Paper and directed them to the Voting Booth where they put a cross next to the candidate of  their choice.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2014-2015

Back in September, it was reported via the School Council that pupils at Grove Primary School were keen to have a House System.  This was an idea that the school was eager to support taking into consideration how much such a scheme is said to enhance children’s education.

Members of the School Council discussed possible House Names with animals, colours, periods of History, planets and precious stones making it to the top of the list.  They subsequently organised a vote in each of their classes and before Easter, 195 pupils selected their favourite House Names.

We believe that the House System will provide a meaningful framework for pupils to enhance their Golden Behaviours for Learning, as well as benefit their wider education.

We are therefore delighted to announce that as of 8th May 2015 Grove Primary School will have 4 Houses: Diamond, Emerald, Ruby and Sapphire.  On that particular day, pupils all over the school will be making their way to the Polling Stations to choose a Captain and Vice Captain for each House.  The candidates are:
