Important Dates:

Upcoming important dates for your diary will be posted here.

Thursday 7th May: As you are aware we have planned a KS1 trip to Norwich castle. Please make sure you complete the slip at the end of the letter. If you have not received a letter please see me.

Thursday 14th May: Parent's lunch.

Wednesday 18th March: Parents evening will occur between 16.00 - 18.30.

Thursday 19th March: Parents Evening will continue between 15.45 - 17.45.

Monday 9th February: Your child will be going on a trip to the local fire station in relation to their topic 'Real Superheroes'.

Learning Cafe

For our learning cafe this term we would appreciate any help you could offer in clearing a section of garden behind the classroom. As you can see from the pictures below the garden is heavily overgrown and it is not safe for children to be entering there unsupervised, due to the stinging nettles.

I believe this would be a fantastic opportunity for you and your child to work together to develop your child's knowledge of caring for their environment and to help them continue with their 'Plants' topic in science by identifying between weeds and flowers.

The learning cafe will take place in the afternoon, so you can bring along suitable clothing for your child to change into so their uniform does not get muddy. We have limited equipment so if you have any spare gloves or equipment that you could bring we would be very grateful.

We look forward to seeing you!

A HUGE thank you to all the parents who came along to the learning cafe. You all worked incredibly hard and you were supportive of the children who joined in. I promise next time to have some biscuits to go with the coffee and tea! I hope you enjoy the pictures of the parents and children all hard at work!

Norwich Castle

I would like to give you all a HUGE thank you for supporting the educational trip to Norwich castle. Your child has had the opportunity to explore the castle, where they had to keep their eyes peeled for rats!; they had to help Maude the servant prepare for the jousting competition, which involved them making their own pennant; and finally they had to help the housekeeper sort all the lost belongings into a castle pile or a knights pile. I hope you enjoy the pictures below, which is only a small sample of what the children did.

Terrific Topic:

This term your child will be learning about 'Castles' in topic.

Your child has been learning about 'Real Superheroes' in topic. They have started to research the different roles and responsibilities associated with doctors, firefighters, police officers and vets. They have had a visit from the local police who answered their questions and explained in more detail what their job entails. The children had enormous fun dressing up as police officers and they also got to experience being in the police car.

Monday 9th February 2015: The children enjoyed their school trip to South Lowestoft Fire Station today. The firefighters gave the children a talk on their job roles and responsibilities, how the children should respond if they see a fire and what equipment the firefighters use to stay safe. The children were given a tour of the fire station where they were given the opportunity to go into the fire engine and ask questions about how the firefighters use their equipment. The tour ended with the children having a go at using the water hoses. After many threats I did manage to escape getting wet, sadly the same could not be said for the children!
