Year 5/6 Enrichment Writing Day at Carlton Colville

A few children from Year 5/6 attended a Writing Enrichment Day at Carlton Colville Primary School on the 8th October. Ed Boxall (a poet, illustrator and performer) ran the event. During the day, the pupils who attended explored the importance of free, unselfconcious writing to explore ideas. They then used this writing as the basis for composing refined poems in a variety of forms.

"I loved it - it was so much fun!"

Bedtime Stories

Thursday 15th November 5.45-7.00pm

To coincide with our Book Fair, we will be hosting our annual Bedtime Stories event during the same week.

To those who are new to the school, Bedtime Stories is a lovely evening for our children and families to come back to school in the evening to listen to  stories being read by the teachers in their classrooms (kitted out with fairy lights, cushions etc). Halfway through the evening, everyone heads back into the hall for hot chocolate and biscuits.

Crucial Crew for Y6

In November, Year 6 visited the national Crucial Crew event and learnt about how to keep themselves and their friends and family safe, how to be environmentally conscientious and how to lead healthy lives.

Author Visit: Gracie Wright

Children's author, Gracie Wright, visited our school on the 3rd December to lead workshops in each class and share her inspirational story. At age 11, Gracie was in a car crash where she lost all of her memories and had to learn how to read and write again. Gracie's story inspired our children here at Grove to never give up and be resilient robins.

Rock Choir: The Seagull Theatre

The Rock Choir took part in a special Christmas concert at The Seagull Theatre on the 6th December. They performed on stage with a number of choirs from the local area. Well done to all children who performed - you were fantastic!

Suffolk Wildlife Trust

On the 10th December, Suffolk Wildlife Trust visited our school to talk to our children about 'lost words of the natural world' in The Oxford Children's Dictionary.  They shared , and gifted us, 'The Lost Words: A Spell Book' which is used in Woodland School. Thank you to Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
