We would like to share things we have been enjoying during the school day via our class page. Please keep checking for regular updates.
We went to Pakefield beach with our families for our summer trip and share afternoon. The sun shone, (for most of the day) and we had a wonderful, but busy day! We played rounders, team games and paddled. Everyone displayed the Golden behaviours for learning, especially during the team games and sand castle building competition. Our wonderful parents were with us to enjoy the day! Thank you for your support- great COLLABORATION!
This week we have been looking at the story of the Naughty Bus who rode through baked beans.
We observed the changes to bread when it is cooked. We made beans on toast and ate them! Yummy!
We wrote a short narrative about where we would take our own bus if we had one.
We also looked at time and different equipment for measuring time such as stop watches, egg timer analogue and digital clocks .
Lots of us now have sun hats -please ensure you child has one at school each day.
We have been busy tasty lots of new foods! First of all we tried lots of different beans. We decided which ones we liked, and some which we were unsure of. Then we had a healthy restaurant which served hummous, pitta bread and lots of different vegetables. We drank milk to help keep our bones strong.
We are proud of the children for trying lots of new foods.
We had a wonderful time sharing our learning with our families! We worked together to continue our development within all areas while enjoying the warm weather . Thank you to all who attended.
Both Daisy and Buttercup Classes enjoyed a fantastic trip to Ringsfield Hall to support our theme of 'Growth'. We had a FANTASTIC DAY! We met a very hungry caterpillar. We had to find food for him and cook in the woods. We learnt about different plants and trees, even ones we can eat, as well as the life cycle of a caterpillar. Have a look at our wonderful photos.
This half term we shall be exploring the topic of 'Growth'. We shall be looking at the 'Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle and this will support our educational visit to Ringsfield Hall on Thursday April 30th 2015. After a wonderful art day we have created our own 3D version of the 'Hungry Caterpillar' which is on display in the Early Years art area.
Mr Baker has kindly let his chick come to stay with us for a short while. He is very noisy!
Buttercup has a new friend a soft toy elephant who keeps him company. We are watching every day to observe changes in him.
We have been learning through the story of 'The Gruffalo' this week. Some of the activities we have been doing include retelling the story through drama, making Gruffalo crumble and learning about ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd .....).
We have also worked really hard on our new role play area by creating the scene and characters from the story.
This half term we will be exploring work by the well know author Julia Donaldson. We shall be reading books such as What the Ladybird heard, The Gruffalo, as well as many more as the children have declared their own particular favourites. We shall be holding Share sessions focussing on Maths through literacy and we shall use The Smartest Giant in Town to share ideas for mathematical activities. If you feel you have any resources which would support any aspect of our topic please speak to a member of the team.
This week we have been making ladybirds from clay. Have a look in the atrium for a wonderful display.
We have also used the Bee bots to travel across the farmyard as in the book 'What the Ladybird heard.'
With Mr Websdale we have been practising our dance skills which we have all enjoyed
We also made pancakes and tried lots of yummy toppings.
We have had an exciting afternoon visiting the South Lowestoft Fire station and meeting the firefighters who are real life superheroes. Mrs Ellis and Miss Rouse had to dress up as fire fighters. We were able to go in a fire engine and use a very powerful hose! The children had a wonderful time and were beautifully behaved. Well done!
We had a wonderful time sharing our learning with our families. Thank you all for coming.
We have been having great fun with our new suits. We have been practising our independence skills when learning to put our suits on. They keep us clean and means we can go outside whatever the weather.
We walked to the recycling centre (saving petrol), recycled our cans, bottles and clothes in the banks provided for community use. We then went to the charity shop to take our unwanted items for the volunteers to sell. We also bought some new toys for school while we were there.
