Across the school Art takes many forms from paintings to sculptures, 3D displays to oil pastel portraits. We really do cover many techniques to broaden the skills of every child within the school. Our art planning is inspired by our topics and is proving extremely successful by bringing topics to life. We strive to display the great work around the school to give the children pride and the opportunity to celebrate their successes.
Aims for Art and Design across the school
As part of an Active Learning Trust Hub initiative, our year 6 children are taking part in an art project named the Bridge project. Suffolk Arts Link are working closely across the schools and we are very privileged to be working with artists Carrie Phoniex and Kasia Posen. The theme has been connected to our topic work of Vikings. We explored character profiles by 'blind drawing', using the Top Trumps game to design a character. We then created a prototype using Plasticine. Once we were happy with our design we then used Super Sculpty to create a model. The children will continue to work on their models and plan to use them for animation purposes using the woods to create a Viking scene.
Some of our youngest children have been using the skills the whole school developed during our 3D Art Days and have produced some wonderful ideas linked to our topic. The books of Eric Carle have proved extremely popular. We hope you enjoy them!
Everyone has been making some excellent displays of children's work throughout the school. Much of the work has been linked to topic and helps to ensure our school is looking wonderful.
