27th February - Golden Time is changing! Exciting opportunities to learn New Skills!

Since the introduction of the new Behaviour Policy in September 2013, pupils and staff have been asking for Golden Time to provide a range of exciting new learning opportunities.

We looked at different ways that this could be achieved and came up with the idea of workshops.  We were very keen to provide activities which our children actually wanted to do so this is how we did it:

  • First of all, we asked pupils to write down on a large piece of paper in the Atrium which activities they would like to see on offer during Golden Time
  • We then submitted the list to staff and asked them to choose which workshop they would like to offer depending on their personal interest and level of expertise in the subject
  • We introduced the list of workshops to the children in Assembly and asked them to think about them overnight and give their 2 choices to their Class Teacher the following day
  • Pupils' answers were collated from classroom teachers
  • Resources (room and staffing) were allocated depending on numbers
  • Workshop lists were typed up
  • Pupils went to the Hall on the 1st Friday and were taken to their room by their Workshop Leader

Workshops will take place between 2.15 and 3pm on Friday afternoon until Easter.   As this is a Pilot Scheme we will be seeking pupils and staff feedback at the end of the 5 weeks so that we can review the initiative at the end of the Spring Term.
