This week in Reception, we have been learning about lollipop people and how to stay safe when crossing the road. The children explored the importance of listening to the lollipop person, holding their grown ups hands and remembering to ‘Stop, look and listen’ before crossing.
After spending several weeks learning about different jobs, the children thought about what they would like to be when they grow up. Many wanted to be firefighters, police officers and paramedics. We even had some aspiring astronauts and make-up artists!
In Maths, we have been exploring length and comparing objects using words such as ‘longer’, ‘shorter’ and ‘than’. We measured the length of our arms using string and then compared them, making sure the string started at the starting point and was kept straight.
To end the week, we went into the woods and learned about the importance of trees. The children discovered that trees provide shelter for animals, give us oxygen and even provide food. The children then showed their love for trees by giving them a massive hug!
